If you haven’t seen the alert about “fake news” in your Facebook feed, you will soon.
The social media site is cracking down on “fake news” according to Facebook’s co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Facebook not only added a new tab for users to report fake news, it also released a link with 10 tips on how to spot fake news. The tips are pretty basic ideas like closely examining the date of an article, its source and URL, among other things.
That being said, the crack down on “fake news” sounds good on its face, but it’s also a very slippery slope that could instead result in censorship.
In May of 2016 Facebook was caught red-handed targeting and censoring conservatives, and to this day there are complaints from conservatives who believe they’re still being censored.
So the question is, why now? Why the sudden interest in eliminating ‘fake news’? Does Zuckerberg really care about eliminating fabricated stories or is there some sort of nefarious plan to eliminate and censor stories they don’t like, stories that hurt the liberal agenda.
The timing is pretty curious with the 2018 midterm elections just around the corner, there’s a lot at stake for the democrats. Remember the left said Facebook was partly to blame for Donald Trump’s election. Liberals claim that there was a lot of misinformation spread about Hillary Clinton on the social media site, which they believe negatively impacted her campaign. So democrats don’t want ‘fake news’ to hurt them again in 2018, or in the future.
Now there’s still zero evidence to back up these claims, and even Zuckerberg doesn’t believe that fake news actually influenced the election. So, is the left mad about clickbait news or mad about real news stories shared, that hurt their candidate?
Also, notice that there’s no mention of the fact that the mainstream media was working overtime to help Clinton get elected. The majority of the news outlets were pumping out anti-trump propaganda 24/7, this while ignoring most of the major Clinton scandals.
If Zuckerberg claims that ‘fake news’ shared on his social media site didn’t make a difference, why is he investing his company’s time and money on this feature? Also, there’re many things that could go wrong, and who is Facebook to decide what is fake and what is real?
Zuckerberg is a raging liberal and so is his work partner, Dustin Moskovitz a co-founder of Facebook. Moskovitz donated $20 Million to Clinton’s presidential campaign. They both have spoken out against the republican agenda numerous times, and the weak response to Facebook censoring scandal says it all. It’s pretty obvious where Facebook stands and what the agenda is.
Facebook says its mission is to give people the power to share and make the world a more connected place, so one would assume that their first amendments rights would be protected, but Facebook is a private entity so it really has no obligation to actually be fair or unbiased.
It’s pretty clear, that Facebook is an entity with a liberal bias, pretending to be neutral, this to influence American politics. This is a very unfortunate situation, considering the fact the majority of Americans get their news from social media sites like Facebook.
It’s time for Facebook to stop misleading the 200 million Americans that have Facebook accounts. It’s time for Facebook to reveal what it’s really turning into, a propaganda tool for the left.
